This month’s free, printable Easter coloring page from children’s book illustrator, Melanie Hope Greenberg is so cheerful. Personally, I’d love to be caught in a jelly bean rain storm. But it’s not just for Easter, let’s call it a spring coloring page instead!

As you can see, New Kid was very enthusiastic with the colored pencils! I never issue the instructions, “stay in the lines.” How boring! (Please overlook the stained shirt, that’s what happens when your mom is super-cheap and you wear your brother’s hand-me-downs.) You can also see that he is still working on his pencil grip.
Melanie Hope Greenberg is an awesome children’s illustrator who loves to meet kids and parents for story time. If you live in the New York City area you can always meet her at the Hip Tot Festival on the second Sunday of each month. That’s this coming Sunday in March. There is always music, dancing and storytelling. In other words: lots of fun.
I love to tell people about my lovely friend Melanie:
Melanie Hope Greenberg is an award winning author and illustrator of more than 15 children’s books. Have your ever read Good Morning, Digger or Down in the Subway? She illustrated them! Her latest book (which she also wrote), Mermaids on Parade is an ode to summer, dressing up and self-expression. It was selected as a Bank Street Best Book, and for the Texas Reading Club and PBS Kids Summer Reading Lists. (Not too shabby!)
Melanie was an artist-in-residence at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art and conducts author-illustrator workshops at public schools and libraries all over the country. Her illustrations have been published internationally, you can take a look at her illustration website.
You can connect with Melanie (and share photos of your kids doodling on the coloring page) at facebook. You can also visit Melanie’s Blog to find out find out how you can get one of her books autographed. They make lovely gifts, especially for kids who might like diggers or mermaids. You wouldn’t happen to know any kids like that, would you?
This coloring page and others will be collected on a Pinterest board.
