For parents looking for simple ways to boost their kids’ logic thinking skills there is nothing better than a brain teaser puzzle. But you can’t just start with the toughest puzzles and expect your kid not to wail in frustration! I know all about that as I have one kid who loves brain stretching logic puzzles and another kid who isn’t so enamored. Quick brain teasers are just the ticket. It’s not too difficult and since there are only four steps it won’t take forever to figure out.

Beginning and quick brain teaser puzzle for kids working on logic and strategy.

Brain teaser puzzle instructions:

What you need:

8 tokens in two different colors. You could use coins or game pieces.

Set up:

Line up the tokens as shown.

Objective:

Move the colored tokens so that they end in alternating colors.

Rules:

You are only allowed four moves.

You must move two adjacent tokens at a time.

I’ll give you a minute to try it before I tell you the solution.

….

….

….

Did you solve it?

Watch the video or scroll down for the solution to our fun and quick brain teaser puzzle.

Solution:

Step 2 of quick brain teaser puzzle

Move 2 & 3 to the end

Step 3 of quick brain teaser puzzle

Move 5 & 6 to the empty spot.

Step 3 of quick brain teaser puzzle

Move 8 & 2 to the empty spot.

End of quick brain teaser puzzle

Move 1 & 5 to the empty spot.

TA DA!

Don’t you feel smart, now?

Try it with your kid and then have your child give the puzzle to a grown up and see what happens! Kids love to stump their parents or other family members. It gives kids confidence to see adults working hard on something they have already solved. In fact, brain teasers and puzzles are great party tricks for family gatherings. They are bit of a change from the normal board game and charades fare and a guarantee for lots of laugh. I have 16 more brain teasers for family gatherings for you to try.

I regularly share brain games like today’s quick brain teaser, along with other easy activities and our Monday book list. Don’t be left out and get the latest in our weekly newsletter.
