The other day I found a surprisingly wonderful distraction for my son! Popsicle Sticks! (Or “craft sticks” as they should properly be called. Playing with sticks turned into a great indoor activity for a dreary afternoon.

Playing with wooden craft sticks is a great indoor activity for kids.

These little wooden sticks kept Kiddo busy for quite some time.Lucky for me, we happened to have a box of 1000 of them! I know, that does seem a little unusual, but hey!, whatever works, right?

He used them for building. This kept him super focused and exercised those fine motor skills.

Building with popsicle sticks

He used them to form letters. I’m always a big fan of mixing literacy and play!

Not too weird – I have a box of 1000 too! They’re such a crafting essential it’s good to stock up. I love this simple play idea! (I’m a big fan of play and literacy combined too!)
