This month's multicultural children coloring page from children's book illustrator Melanie Hope Greenberg is absolutely delightful! I think it's the perfect coloring page for January when our country is celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., who worked tirelessly so that all children would have reason to smile just like the kids Melanie has drawn!
Take a close look at the coloring page and you will see that each of the five children on the coloring page represents a different faith.
You can also cut out each figure individually and attach to a straw or craft stick to turn it into a puppet for pretend play.

Melanie's illustrations are available as greeting cards here for the Children's Defense Fund, an organization that she starting working with back in 1993. Below are the full color illustrations she created for the CDF. Take a look at the top middle illustration; we have the children circling the earth as a coloring page as well!

About the Illustrator
Melanie Hope Greenberg is an award winning author and illustrator of more than 15 children’s books. She was an Artist-In-Residence at the Eric Carle Museum and her books have been featured as a NY Times Great Children's Read. Her cheerful, vibrant illustrations can be found in books such as Good Morning, Digger, Down in the Subway and A City Is.
One of Melanie's favorite parts of being an author/illustrator is talking about her craft with students at libraries and in classrooms. You can learn more about author visits (virtual or in-person) at her website.
