    Practical Life: Kitchen Geometry

    • Facebook

We all know that kids in the kitchen have ample opportunity to work on their math skills. Recently Kiddo put his geometry and measuring skills to the test when we made some sausage and potato pockets.

Top photo shows child marking sheets of dough with a ruler. Bottom photos is of child's hands forming triangle shaped tarts on baking sheet. Text in between photos reads "practical life kitchen geometry".

First, he measuring to see how many more inches we need to roll the dough in order to make 12 inch squares:

Then he needed to measure 6 inches to divide the dough into 4 equal squares:

Now for the geometry!! Folding opposite corners of squares produces triangles:

Magic! (And also a great practical life skill...)
