We are having a staycation (This word “staycation” is so useful, and yet so annoying.) of sorts around here. Hence, the lack of daily posts. We haven’t been doing many indoor activities, either. Instead, we’ve been exploring the city.
Fans of Peter Brown’s book, The Curious Garden, may know that he was inspired by Manhattan’s High Line Railway. The first section of the new High Line park opened this summer. It is an incredibly delightful meeting of urban decay and urban renewal.
I loved:
the masterful garden design which made the plantings seem like accidental happeningsthe juxtaposition of beauty with decay
Kiddo loved:
walking the trackshanging out on the loungers set on railway wheels
watching the traffic from big glass windows
We all loved:
the artisan ice cream truck We can’t wait for the next section (rumored to have a playground and picnic area) to open!

Wow. What an amazing garden. I love the way they've taken an area that is no longer used for its intended purpose and made it into something beautiful. The artisan ice cream is intriguing too.

Oh, another book I must look up. What an intriguing garden! The glass window photo threw me off, I thought it was a pretend view.

Looks lovely! I know what you mean… I have a love/hate relationship with the word “staycation” too. 🙂 What a beautiful garden!
