Spiraling Downward: Upcycled Ornament Craft for Kids

    • Facebook
Child holding clear plastic cup in one hand and drawing with a pencil in the other. Table is covered in multicolored paper cut into spiraled circles. Text at top reads, "recycled craft for kids spiral ornaments."

One of our advent activities was making spiral ornaments and it was a fun holiday activity for us because we only like crafts that are easy!

We turned  it into a recycled craft by upcycling old holiday cards, including those sets we keep getting from charity organizations (do you get those, too?) and some shiny foil wrapping paper I pilfered from presents.

Using a cup, my son traced circles on the paper and cards (see above photo). He was able to cut out the circles but I ended up I cutting them into spirals since that part was a bit tricky for him. I'm sure older kids would easily be able to do that part.

You could add on thread loops at the top for hanging, but I'm little lazy for that! We'll just hook the top spiral-y ends on our Christmas tree branches.
