My favorite section of the library is the hold section, where my personal selections are gloriously waiting just for me, but running a close second is the New Books Shelf filled with pristine reads, ready to be discovered. I am unable wait until December's "Top Books of 2012" post to tell you about these books, and besides, I'm sure some will have been bumped off the list by then, and then you would have missed out!

Extra Yarn. By far my favorite! Knitting makes everything better. Also, look closely, because perhaps the fabulous I Want My Hat Back didn't end like you think it did!
And Then It's Spring. Illustrated by last year's Caldecott winner. It's just in time for the season. Quiet and Beautiful
Chopsticks. Rosenthal's books are usually winners and her clever story full of puns is one of New Kid's favorites.
Otto the Book Bear. Imagine your favorite storybook character escaping from his book. Where would he go?
Another Brother. Really, I feel for the parents more than anything.
One Cool Friend. Not just cool, but clever, quirky and delightful.
What about you? Don't wait until December to share this year's best books (so far).

Thanks for all the suggestions! Especially the sheep one - we loved Trouble Gum, by the same author.

We loved Trouble Gum, too! I can't wait to see what his next book will be.

We loved One Cool Friend. And Then It's Spring was a little too slow for my girls. I've glanced at some of the others but haven't had a chance to really spend time with them.
Mom and Kiddo says
Kiddo did find And Then It's Spring a bit action-less for his tastes, but I was surprised how much New Kid enjoyed it. He requests it repeatedly.

Oh, I do love a good book list. I visit the library every week. thanks
Raising a Happy Child says
Cool - neither of them appeared on our "new books" shelf just yet. I'll keep checking! Thanks for joining WMCIR!

We loved Extra Yarn, had to read it several times in fact. Looking forward to reading the rest of your list, if only the waiting line in our library wasn't so long 🙂
