Fun Drawing Games to Make Your Kids Laugh

    • Facebook

Hold on to your pens and pencils folks. You are going to need them for the awesomeness I am about to introduce to you.

Silly art that will make your kids giggle, laugh, guffaw, titter and flail about hysterically.

    No, really.

My crazy, crazy pal Jeanette has written a book, Tangle Art and Drawing Games for Kids: A Silly Book for Creative and Visual Thinking. (She even sent me a review copy because that's the kind of cool person she is.) A book that is awesome and incredibly useful. (Because who needs a useless book, right? Not me. No room in my life for that at all.) It is full of creative way to get your kids going bonkers with the art supplies. Of course I am always skeptical of art books for kids because my kids are not exactly the most enthusiastic artists on the block.

    BUT.

MY FAVORITE PART OF THE BOOK: You do not need any artistic talent. This book has such easy ideas that work even if your natural artistic talent below that of Picasso. Or below the artistic skill of Picasso's third cousin once removed. (Does that even make any sense?)

Stuff like turning loops into fish, easy zentangle-ish ideas, fingerprint art, drawing games with friends, drawing upside-down, or with your feet!

My kids and I created our own exquisite corpse books. They are small books that create interchangeable creature parts to play around with. Here's my 7 year old (you know the one who claims to "hate" art so, so much?) coloring one!!

Side note: this exquisite corpse book is based on our current read aloud, Nanny Piggins (the most hilarious book series you will ever read). The three corpses are Nanny Piggins, Boris, and the Ringmaster. He loved playing around with the corpse book during our reading session. Win-win.

In case for some reason that doesn't convince you, Jeanette herself has made a few sneak peeks of the hilarity that awaits you between the pages of her book. See all the preview videos on the Craftwhack YouTube channel.

Get the book, people! Get the book. So much hilarious creativity in one place. It will make your head explode.

I'm an artist, and my art friends and I do Exquisite Corpse projects on a regular basis. I feel silly admitting I've never tried doing this project with the kiddos I babysit. I think they would really like it!
