Sorting Pom Poms Into Egg Cartons

February 1, 2008

Mom is slightly behind on the Unplugged Project of the week, but today she managed to get out the egg cartons — the theme of the week. Kiddo has not been very interested in art this week and Mom is not into crafts which suggest that Kiddo make something familiar out of materials. He has to experience the media first (Mom loves the book Young at Art – affiliate link). But enough digression…

Building on the counting theme of Tuesday, Mom labeled one of the egg cartons with numbers and Kiddo decided to use poms instead of beans. (Ahhh, the Pom)

Then, to extend the activity, Mom and Kiddo did some color sorting.

Counting and sorting…two of my favorite activities! Jess sorted this week too at her blog (M&M’s by color – but many were eaten along the way!).

I’m glad you found a good use for the egg cartons this week. I look forward to seeing what you do with those dusty pipecleaners.

I guess I had better hurry up and get some pipecleaners otherwise we won’t make it in time!

    Thanks for joining in!
