Indoor ball games for kids can be a fun way to spend a rainy day inside and if you have a cardboard box, some marbles or ping-pong balls, putting together this indoor ball game could not be easier.
Cut a few holes in a box and put it on the floor. The boys used marbles to shoot into the holes. They would have used ping-pong balls but we could only find one and sharing without fighting is usually a foreign concept. UPDATE: See New Kid's new way to use this box with his toy cars!
Extra Tips for Extra Fun:
- I cut holes on two sides of the box so the boys could play on opposite sides, therefore eliminating the inevitable fighting jostling for space. If you have a large enough box and more kids, you could do this on 3 or 4 sides, too.
- Add point values to the holes. Kiddo is really big into scoring every game he plays. After I took these photos he wrote "50", "25" and "100" above the holes. (Bonus: math practice!)
- If you are crafty you could decorate the box and make it lovely. My primary concern with this project was getting the boys out of my hair during a thunderstorm so I didn't bother with such niceties.
- We did a variation of this same activity a while ago. Check out our Indoor Carnival Game for another fun option.
