There are a few picture book illustrations that depict a certain style of carefully conceived world and I want to take a running jump and see if I might just be able to step through the pages. Literally. Have you ever felt that way about a picture book?
These types of books are few and far between and I don’t even necessarily call them my favorite books (although I love them) or the ones with the best illustrations. However, they have a specific draw (pun intended) and I’d really like to take a stroll through them.

Here are three:
Woody, Hazel, and Little Pip. Miniature magical creatures, autumnal loveliness.
Christmas in Noisy Village. Swedish Christmas goodness. Plus, gingerbread pigs are delicious so I wouldn’t get hungry.
I would also mention the lovely Maggie B (oh look, I just did), but it was part of Monday’s post.
What illustrations do you wish would transport you away?

Oh, the Toot and Puddle book pictures are so wonderful. You are right, we should all live in those books, too. 🙂

I love the pictures in Christmas at Noisy Village too. N. loves all Tasha Tudor and Jan Brett illustrations. And we love the kitchen in Blueberries for Sal.

That kitchen in Blueberries for Sal has always captured my imagination, as well. I can't believe I didn't thought of it for this post.
Raising a Happy Child says
Hmm… Tough! I actually like more childlike illustrations like in Todd Parr books, but detailed drawings are enchanting in their own way.

We love Elsa Beskow books! If I could jump into a book it would either be one of hers or maybe Sibylle von Olfers' books.
