This weekend we took Kiddo to the Apple Festival in Prospect Park for some apple fun. We have been reading books about apples and Kiddo is currently obsessed with the apple stand at the farmer’s market which sells apple cider and apple cider donuts. He also tells me that he wants me to make all kinds of apple treats like apple muffins and applesauce (which I made this morning for our waffles and then he didn’t eat).
It was a small festival but very well done. Kiddo got to peel an apple, help press the apple cider (which he drank 3 cups of. I don’t blame him, it was incredibly delicious), grind apples for apple butter, and watch apple fritters being made — all done 18th century style. He also really liked the apple spoon race, although he couldn’t quite grasp the concept of not holding onto the apple. Next week we look forward to the Potato Dig, where we get to churn butter!
