    52 Card Pick-up

Keeping a baby occupied so you can get something done can be a bit of a challenge. I like to put a bunch of playing cards at a standing level, which New Kid can push onto the floor. He likes to plop down and throw them around. It keeps him busy for about 5 minutes, which we all know, in baby time is the equivalent of 5 hours.

I've found that Jordan (17mths) enjoys picking up beans. It started out as a montessori pouring exercise, but I've now realized that about 30 black eyed peas will keep her engaged for a while...not to mention practicing her pincer grasp (ok- so that's what I tell myself to avoid the guilt)

      I haven't seen New Kid in a while--looks like he's content! 🙂

Lucian played 52 card pick-up on a plane to the west coast for far longer than I would have guessed, and it was a sanity-saver, for sure. His game had a few advanced steps thrown into the mix, but it occupied him for at least a half hour or more, and he was calm, quiet, and stayed happily contained in the small area around our feet, so we were thrilled.
