Top Indoor Kid Activities of 2012

Earlier this week I published my top book lists of 2012, and today I am teaming up with other kid activity bloggers to bring you a slew (slew = 100+) of the best kid activities that made their way around the web during 2012.

Best Kid Activities of the year

While the very tippy-top post of 2012 was my list of chapter books perfect to read aloud to you preschoolers, the indoor activity you liked best was a complete surprise to me.

It was (drum roll, please)…

Car Wash

The funny thing about this post is that the only text I wrote was “car wash.” I’ve since added a brief description for setting up the activity, but you guys are so smart, you didn’t even need that. I wrote the description because TONS of you were clicking on the photo, thinking that there MUST be more to the post!  The post was part of my sporadic series, “Transportation Tuesday,” in which I post photos of how my boys interact with (you guessed it) transportation.

Here’s why I like the post:

  • This activity is EASY (raise your hand if you’re a lazy mom!) to set up.
  • My boys NEVER get tired of this! NEVER, I tell you!
  • It is FREE.
  • I used my grease-stained Pyrex baking dish and you still loved the photo. (Who says all pin-worthy photos must be beautiful?)

Because of the post’s enormous popularity I made it the banner photo for my Giant List Indoor Activities for Kids. Have you checked out that list, yet? For curious minds, the next top 5 indoor activities from this blog are:

It’s hard for me to choose my own favorite post, but I really have enjoyed sharing our favorite games in my new Game of the Month series, and lucky you, we received numerous new games for Christmas this year and I can’t wait to tell you about them.

Finally, I want to say a big, big thank you to all of my long time readers (bless you!) as well as those of you who are visiting for the very first time (welcome!). I have big plans for this blog in 2013 and I hope you’ll stick around and continue to leave your supportive and helpful comments.

Don’t forget to visit some of the kid activities linked below. (Um… note there might not be 100 links yet, but there will be by the time everyone finishes linking up!) There is something for everyone. Thanks to all the bloggers who joined up in the Best of 2012 Blog Hop!

  1. Carwash? I love it! At my house we did something similar — doll clothes laundry. Same soapy suds, and then set up a clothesline to dry. There’s nothing better than bubbles!
