Neighborhood Find of the Week: Is it me, or is this the oddest holiday decor you have ever seen. Do peacocks even live in snowy climates?
Thank-you Note Ideas of the Week:
- PBS Parents has a useful article on Tips for Writing Thank-You Notes. I appreciate how they break it down by age.
- Real Simple gives you 13 Homemade Thank-You Note Ideas
- Thank you notes are a great way to
get rid ofre-purposeĀ your kids’ art. Simply cut and fold. Who wouldn’t love a little kid-made art in the mail? Only a curmudgeon, that’s who. One of my favorite art projects we turned into cards was Shaken Container Painting.
Book of the Week:
The boys received this beautiful book, Birds of a Feather, for Christmas. It is an over sized book with loads of unique lift-the-flaps in the shape of birds eggs, feather, puzzle pieces and silhouettes.

I love books like this! We need to get on with our Thank You notes too.
Ha ha to the peacock. Come to Australia and you will see lots of bizarre decorations – kangaroos pulling a sleigh through the fake snow in 40 degree (Celsius) heat, for example!
Yes, a kangaroo pulling a sleigh does sound rather odd!
Thanks for the laugh…I wonder if the owner has a story behind it. We usually give neighborhood houses 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for decorations. Maybe we’ll have to do most unusual next year. Hope you had a great holiday.

I was thinking their might be a story behind why on earth they chose a peacock. It sure livened things up, anyway!
Three peacocks live near us at St. John the Divine. I don’t know the story behind it.
Interesting. I didn’t know that.
Oh, my son would love this book! We just had some fun feeding birds today and reading a couple of books related to them. We’ll have to check this one out, too!
It’s really wonderful, but be prepared: it’s huge!
