Mom’s Bookshelf, Vol 4

It’s been quite sometime since I’ve enlightened you with my reading list. Here’s a small smattering of what I’ve been reading while dust bunnies have been establishing a small colony under the beds (I think they are planning a takeover).

What have you been reading?

The Corinthian. Have you noticed how there is always a Georgette Heyer book on my list? There is a reason for that.

All Creatures Great and Small. Never have I laughed so hard about a cow’s uterus.

The Great Mortality. Never have I laughed so hard about the bubonic plague.

The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sister, Two Rabbits and a Very Interesting Boy. Long title, lovely book. Enjoy it yourself, then read it to your children.

Daughter of Persia: A Woman’s Journey from Her Father’s Harem Through the Islamic Revolution┬áThe longer the title, the better the book. Fascinating. Must Read.

The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains. Read this…. while you still can…

Real Food: What You Should Eat and Why. I’m hungry.

Cheap: The High Cost of Discount Culture. Perhaps I shouldn’t have read this book*, because now I can’t shop at IKEA.

Sex, Time and Power. Debatable. But, that reminds me, I need to take my iron supplement.

The Female Brain. We are all crazy. Accept it.

*I jest, and yet I wouldn’t want to avoid reading unpleasant truths just so I can buy cheap particleboard bookshelves without being fully informed of the consequences.

Comments

  1. I'll have to check these out. I haven't been reading much lately.

  2. So what's wrong with IKEA bookshelves? Our all house has pretty much come from IKEA. I have to read some of the books on your list!

  3. I also want to know what is wrong with IKEA! Walmart, yes, but IKEA?

I love “All Creatures Great and Small”. I'll have to add several of those others to my unending “to-read” list!

  4. Joyful Learner says:

Your little blurbs of each book make reading so enticing! I need to make more time for fun reading aside from educational materials!
